Major Ledfoot The steering wheel on my latest acquisition (a 1993 945 SE turbo) is afflicted with the problem which, I have since learned, is quite common in these models: The grip over the wheel frame is loose from about 10 o'clock to 2 o'clock, like the foam padding over the wheel frame has unstuck itself. This model is equipped with an airbag in the horn pad, so this makes things somewhat more complicated than just whipping off the old one and replacing it with an easily-obtainable aftermarket wheel using a boss kit, I want to keep the thing street legal since I can't be arsed keeping the old one and doing a swap each time the car is up for annual rego inspection. Looking on the net finds nothing, except rumors that Momo market a suitable aftermarket wheel which takes an air bag. JFTR, here are Momo's adapter hub part numbers for their non-airbag wheels. MO-9010 Volvo Hub Adapter, 240 Series, 1982-On MO-9011 Volvo Hub Adapter, 940, All 760 Series, 1983-On 740 Series, 1984-On MO-9016 Volvo Hub Adapter, 480 Series, 1988-On MO-9018 Volvo Hub Adapter, 740 Series, 1990-On 780 Series, 1990-On 850, 960 Series, All So it's time to consult the OzVolvo Brains Trust, since folks here see a lot more makes and models than me and you often know which part from what will fit in something else without hassles. - Is there an aftermarket wheel available to fit an airbagged 940? - What about airbag-equipped vehicles with nicer OE wheels than the 940? (e.g. HSV, Golf Mk 5, etc)? - Any suggestions on an OE airbag wheel from another car which will fit the 940?
OldnDecrepit I sourced a timber steering wheel from a Japan model Volvo for my 960. Just had to swap the airbag over.
Vee_Que 960 column is an 850 spline, so the choices are slim I believe, never seem alternatives even for other more popular makes either :s
