I'm just scared whenever I see the V8 symbol, that it will guzzle fuel. Do you know how it would compare to say a Kluger V6 fuel efficiency wise?
the V8 is better than a v6 Kluger, but not hugely so....
the V8 is better on fuel than the 3.2 by a wide margin
The V8/3.2 are horrid though for city use.... expect something around 15L/100 or worse
The D5 gets 10L/100 in city or better
Highway is sub 10 for the petrol models and 7.5 for the D5
the 3.2 has some massive failings as an engine, Oil consumption, timing gears and chain, alternator couplings
Are just some of the few failings
The R-design branding just means it got a slightly different suspension and a body kit and some branding here and there. there are no mechanical differences in the engine
a single 40min drive a week is enough to clean out the DPF
The EGR should be pulled and cleaned once every 5 years though with mostly city use (4 ish hours of labor)
The D5 has a timing belt where the V8 does not... so the V8 is cheaper on the maintenance side for the long term
Either way, run only penrite HPR10 full synthetic in the car and change it with a new volvo or Mann filter every 6 months or 7500KM religiously
Some of the early V8's had an issue with water in the valley if you washed the engine too often, 08+ does not have this issue... but still just don't wash the engine bay unless your about to take the car for a long drive on a warm day
