Think engineering solution. Replacing just one stuffed thread/wheel stud can be done in-situ, but doing all 5 studs is best as it just involves undoing 4 more bolts that hold in the axle after parking brake shoes are removed.
The in-situ hand tool way of tapping out a stud is one thing, but drawing in a new stud is hard work with a sleeve and a long wheel nut required The risk of stretching the thread when drawing is present, or not getting it dead straight, an issue as long studs mean magnified error.
So best out with the axle and any hydraulic press can have them all done in the time you try fitting just one in-situ by hand.
The biggest hassle is always the refitting the springs on the hand brake shoes. Takes me twice as long as expected.
