Dauntless
Hey everyone,
I've noticed that recently the 740 has developed a leak. When left out in the rain, the driver's footwell carpet fills up with water.
What is the likely cause of this leak? Windscreen seal, or something else?
Thanks!
Vee_Que
Panel between windscreen and bonnet. Then look at the ac drain.
Dauntless
A/C doesn't work so it's never turned on.
Do you think between the vent panel and the windscreen seal would be the issue?
Vee_Que
It's all I can think of besides windscreen. Only way is to pull it apart and look for tell tale signs.
Dauntless
Thanks. It's most likely related to that panel, as I think it's been off before.

PM me if you need help.

Thanks guys. I haven't investigated the leak yet, however I removed as much sound deadening foam as I could reach within the limited time I had. The drivers side rear floor had more water than the front. No water on the passengers side.

I had this with my 740, turned out to be the wiring grommet. Water would get onto the wires, which then angled downward into the grommet. I used a heap of RTV to seal it all up and the issue went away.

Thanks James, I'll try to check it out this week.

Dauntless, the water will pool more in the rear if the car is on the level, even if the leak is in the front. The floor in the back is lower than the front.

Does your 740 have a sunroof?
Brad
My mum's 740 did the same but on the passenger side. It was leaking around the windscreen. Had a new one installed and it's been dry since then.
Dauntless
No sunroof.
Thanks guys, I'll still haven't had time to check it out.
