Well an interesting turn of events has lead me to offer up my 144 for sale. I have made the tough decision to not hang to it since I have the opportunity to pick up another earlier 142. Since I have only space (and the finances) for one joyous Volvo, the 144 is up for offer.
When I purchased it, it hadn't been started in 3 years and it took a little love to get her back. Full service was performed by John at Voldat. Initially he identified lower compression in the 4th cylinder and if was running a bit rough. Essentially it has just needed to driven to blow out the cobwebs. I have not run a compression test since but a cleaner was put through the system, driven every 1-2 weeks and is running great.
It is a very straight and eye catching car with a few of the usual rust spots. Front RHS windshield lower corner and rear LHS. There is also some very small rust spots on the rear break light panel. These spots have been treated and touched up and don't pose any immediate need for attention. No rust in the boot. All in all the body is fantastic!
Interior is good to excellent. Faded blue colour seats and carpet in good condition. One crack across the dash hidden under dashmat. Freshly reconditioned door cards in black look great. I had planned on dying the blue seats black (for an all black interior), but felt that the door cards toned the all blue interior down enough.
Brakes and suspension all in perfect working order no issues. Brake lines in excellent condition.
Additional info:
* It has the single Stromberg but if desired I will include the dual carbs with linkage and manifold intact.
* It has AC, but the belt has been thrown. The refurbished compressor was was installed relatively short time ago. I am not sure, but it may just need the belt and a gas charge.
* Intermittent wiper switch.
* Blower motor isn't running. I haven't trouble shooted the problem yet, but have a spare unit to replace it if needed.
* I sourced a boss kit to install an aftermarket wheel and will be included with the sale.
