DW42 My wagon is a base model 240 without central locking. I heard a Volvo legend a while back that everything was present from the factory to make the central locking work in poverty spec models: all that's required is to connect it up in the doors. Consistent with the legend, today while lubing the window winder mechanism in the driver's door I noticed that the wiring appears to be there. What is likely to be needed to hook it up and test it?
Ex850R The actuators at least.I've maybe got the ones from my 240 when the new Mongoose set went in (as part of alarm system) .Remind me to look, postage cost only. Les
paul0075 If there's nothing there, any one of the Chinese ones from eBay or Super Cheap will do a better and more reliable job than the VDO setup used by Volvo. And easier to get replacement parts for.
DW42 Thanks for the responses: I'll think about whether I want to add actuators and have central locking. At least in a 240 it's possible to physically reach the other three doors from the driver's seat. First I'll focus on getting all the door locks, handles and window winders working smoothly. The drivers window winder is a little loose at the handle -- I assume from years of applying too much effort to wind the window.
Ex850R The CL is a dumb system where it only unlocks all doors when you key unlock the driver's door and vice versa. No switch block inside.I added my new system as it gives me remote unlock with the alarm system and switches can be added easily.
