Thats my pictures, they arnt very clear as I havnt stripped the head and removed the cams yet.
the pdf is something I stumbled across while googling Volvo Heads, it explains exactly what has happened, I think.
I wasnt driving the vehicle, or own the car at the time, so I dont know any history of the incident. but when I removed the crank pully and timing belt cover there was strands of the Alternator belt wrapped around the timing belt gear on the crank.
Im guessing this deformed the timing belt as it stepped up over the uneven strands and caused it to break.

I dont know if the vehicle missed the recall for the Auxiliary belt and tensioner, but it also obviously had an extreme lack of maintenance, leading to an expensive fix.
Now im on the search for another head or any ideas for the best way to fix it.
