The old welder has been getting fussier and fussier, but when it is happy, then it can make me happy.
But a mate was selling his almost new inverter MIG at a decent price, so I bought it.
It is much less temperamental than the old welder, but I am struggling to get a really good weld from it.
It does nearly as good welds almost regardless of how I set it. I have fiddle incessantly with the settings and tweaked my technique, but this is about as good as I can get.
The old welder would forcefully push me in the right direction by being useless if I had it wrong but I think that this one being more forgiving is making it harder to find the sweet spot.
It feels like it is always a bit too hot, until the voltage is turned down so far that it is a pain to get started.
So, a number of you are far better and more knowledgeable than I am… let me know what I need to do differently!
