This is the first time this has happened. Disconnected the battery and the secondary alarm went off. Its fairly quiet, so i continued to remove the battery to retrieve a screw i had dropped. All fine.
When I reconnected the battery, the main alarm siren kicked in. I couldn't stop it. Tried locking/unlocking drivers door with key. No good . Checked the manual, which said that would switch it off. Tried several times to no avail. Every time i opened a door, alarm would start up again. Beeping in the cabin when I tried to start car, but it would not start. No light from indicator sensor on passenger speaker, but constant flashing from red light next to the headlight switch. In the end I removed the fusable link to stop the noise, but I dont have a remedy as yet!?!?!?
Any ideas????

I had a factory alarm under the right hand side of the dash in my black 760, maybe start under the panel there?

i'll try that in the morning. I've never seen that sensor/indicator on the speaker glow at all.
I'v just found a manual for the Volvo car alarm "Rolling Code" operator instrunction manual as fitted by The dealer. I'll have a read!

This is quite comprehensive. I've now discovered that it should have a two button key, which activates the alarm and the central locking. Where is this two button key now???? I never received it from the previous owner. I did ask about spare keys!
Anyway is anyone familiar with unit? Could I get another two button key???

REMOVE IT and bypass it
and your life will be a happier place

I've now found the FCC ID Number so I should be able to replace the 3 button key........

Will has the tech gear from factory to recode and reset all this stuff i reckon , my R has one too and it went off when i played with the radio code troo much! No remote either so will be looking for one or new from PFS UK...
SPT940
Ebay says that if I know the FCC ID then I can get a remote that work. There is a way to reprogram it. Yeh, Will may be able to it. The little booklet I have says that it has several programable options!!!!! There is supposed to be a toggle switch under the dash to disarm it too.
Ex850R
Where? I reckon mine would be the same as yours , I will get down under there when I get the revolting carpet out.....
A visit to Will for both of us then!
Check PFS or FCP for remotes costs compared to eBay?
Dan had some I wonder if he still has em?

Vee Que said his 740 wiring was behind glove box or there abouts. I betting mine is behind headlight switch as that is where the Red LED is. Next to headlight switch,
Yep sounds like a plan. I'll have a look at IPD FCP & VolvoPartsWebStore.

Good info , thank you!

I'm going to have a look for this toggle this morning. Where should I start looking? Near the Headlight switch I guess.
Ex850R
I have no idea!? Could be strapped to bracket on steering column.
If you get a chance to scan the important parts of those instructions I would like them?
Inbox me and I will send email Addy.
Good luck!

i can do that. its for a 1996 960, but i'm guessing it was used universally in Oz for that year and perhaps for a few years after.
Ex850R
Thanks , I will look to see what I have under there. I remember my 850R needed new remote and not knowing who I know now , my garage contacted the Sydney mob that made the systems , it wasn't that cheap I remember.....

I took pics of the manual. I'll email them. I found the switch. It used to be mounted through the under dash cover. I can see that it would easily have been deactivated by one accelerator foot where it was located. Somebody quite rightly dismounted and stuffer up inside. I will relocate the mounting hole out of the way, down there somewhere.

Where I found it

New location. All good and running.
