245GL Wagon unable to start
this is my first post and first Volvo we own, so please take it easy with me :)
we bought the car in August 2021, everything was running fine.
however the car was sitting in the garage for the last 2 months and now I'm unable to start it.
the battery was on charge this whole time and is at 14V however when cranking the motor the fuel pump incoming voltage is only 10.0V-10.5V (battery voltage drops to 12V when cranking).
the pump wiring (the two connectors and first 10cm of both wires) was all rusty and seems to slowly fall apart on touch, I chopped off the last 10cm of wiring and rewired with new AWG14 wires
somewhere on this forum I've read the pump "+" goes through fuse no.4 (not no.7 as per the diagram)
checking the voltage on fuse no.4 I get 12V when just turning the key on without cranking the motor (just the dashboard lights), once we turn the key further to start the engine, the voltage at fuse no.4 drops down to between 10.0V-10.5V, I get the same reading at the pump.
my questions :
is the pump supposed to run at +/- 10.0V-10.5V or does it require 12V ?
if 12V is required where else should I look at ? would the relay be the problem then ? or should I assume at this point that we need to replace the pump
thx.
