About a month ago I reported a 940 (1993) stopped with no warning. And curiously the timing light wouldn’t work.
Issue was identified on the ignition power side. Specifically the issue was the ‘lead’ from the coil to distributor cap. The connector at the cap end was discoloured and broken.
So this explains why the timing light wouldn’t work on No.1 lead.
Replaced the lot: coil, leads, cap, rotor, plugs, power stage, and for smart maintenance the flywheel position sensor.
Started first go (mega yeah!!!!) and running so smooth again.
