My 1979 242GT on its way back to road registration. I have owned it for 1 year and Tim the previous owner and his dad have done the hard yards and I will be just finishing what they started.
Pictured here after a long needed wash in prep for stripe kit to be fitted soon. Car has not been waxed yet after painting 7 years ago so paint well cured.
It was a good car to start with and has log books and a very comprehensive record of service etc which is a little mute given car has been off road for 10years but great to have in any case.
Car was sold originally at Southport and has remained in South East Qld its whole life.
Tim did the following work on car
Bare metal repaint approx 7 years ago
Powder coat all satin black parts
New rubber and Bailey channel throughout car
Rust treatment throughout car
Reassembly
And way many other things too long to list
My part
Interior was completely gutted and cleaned and heater and dash gone through and stainless cowl heater pipes fitted. Whilst they were at it a good set of speakers, central locking and remote and a decent stereo was fitted- all in keeping with looking stock as possible. Dash recovered and front seats reconditioned.
Sourced an R Sport steering wheel and rally dash. Wheel on and dash (yet to be fitted) has been reconditioned by Roger Patricio and he fitted LED into it at same time.
I already had a set of 15 by 7 Momo Star wheels which have been fully reconditioned and painted in Mystic Silver
Exhaust system and a massive parts order was sourced from Skandix in preparation for final mechanical work.
What is still to happen?
Stripe kit fitted
Mechanical go through to get road worthy - brakes, suspension, cooling and fuel system, gaskets, seals etc
