Hi all, my name is Luke and I live in England.
I joined the forum as it looked like there were some very interesting things going on here!
It all started for me when i was 15 and living in New Zeland, I was learning to drive in a 1986 360 GLE saloon, I was hooked and the addiction is now out of control!
So when my parents decided we were moving back to the UK my first thought was... I need another 360, so along came a 1986 360 GLE Injection Special Equipment saloon. These were only available as a saloon and in smoked silver or ocean blue metallic. Mine has done 73k miles and I have owned it for 8 years now, however I bought it sight unseen from the other side of the planet and got it dropped off at my grandparents! It needed a full restoration. I and my dad have replaced the outer sills, repaired the inner sills, my dad fabricated new front inner arches from scratch as they were non existent, NOS wings, repaired the front valence, NOS numberplate panel, hole welded up in the chassis, boot floor welded, area around latch inside boot fabricated and welded in. Basically the only panels that didn't require work were the roof and bonnet. I have found every optional accessory I can for it so all it needs now are heated seats and electric mirrors.
Then came along Volvo number 3, a 1988 760 turbo, 144k miles with no MOT, B230ET (garrett T3 and 531 head)... engine donor for my 360! Broke that for parts and kept all the conversion stuff.
Volvo number 4, 1984 360 GLE carb saloon, this I used as a daily for about 3 months before deciding it was just too bad and too rotten to be a daily especially with a newborn child so I sold it.
Volvo number 5, 1997 Volvo 940 turbo saloon, I still have this one now on 186k miles. It is a B230FK with AW71L gearbox (not for much longer). I have fully polybushed the front end, manual boost controller set to a conservative 8psi, LED dash switch bulbs and wood trim added. It has full leather, cruise control, fully working glass moonroof and ACC, sadly the ACC leaks at the condenser so I need a new one. This is my current plaything, I have a 3" decat stainless exhaust system for it, gold EZK, garrett T3 turbo, 531 head and an M90 conversion for it.
Volvo number 6, 204k mile 1997 940 bought as an m90 donor for my saloon 940.
Volvo number 7, 1986 360 GL carb hatchback that I bought from the 2nd owner (previous owner was his dad) for £150! It is on 90k miles and the cambelt was changed 21 years ago in 1999 3k miles ago on 87k!!!! This is another project that I will be slowly fixing up for my son when he learns to drive... in 13 years haha.
Volvo number 8, 1996 Volvo 940 100k miles, m90 donor. Another m90 donor but this one had been used for drifting three times and came with a smashed in passenger rear quarter and a blown up axle, but for £275 who am I to argue? You'd pay more than that for the gearbox alone, broke for parts and now scrapped.
Volvo number 9, 1998 Volvo 940 Celebration on 147k miles, bought as a project sight unseen but too rotten to fix up so I'm currently breaking this one.
Volvo number 10, 1996 Volvo V90 that I bought to break. This one had a blown headgasket and rusty sludge on the dipstick along with a stolen cat. Sold it a week after buying for three times what I paid for it!
Volvo number 11, 1989 Volvo 760 GLE V6 that was given to me for free a few weeks ago. It has blown headgaskets, knackered suspension and 233k miles on the clock. I'm going to rip out the V6 and AW70 and fit the B230FK & AW71L from the 98 940 and sell it on as it is solid.
I will try and get some pictures up over the next few days of the herd past and current.
