240 Starter Wiring. Almost ready to turn it over

After lots of swearing, cups of tea and many beers the engine is finally in. The last snag seems to be the starter wiring!

Im sure its self explanatory but Im lost right before the finish.

I've installed a new starter and did not take photos of how its wired up.

in the photos below theres a red wire and the spade connector. The red wire looks like it want to go on the longer pole And the spade connector on either of the available terminals. There is also 2 other wires. One a direct feed from the battery and what I see is a negative directly to the battery.

Does the negative from the battery connect to the engine block? (Theres also a negative wire from the ac compressor, does this also go on the block/ground?)

And does the direct positive lead connect to the larger pole with the other red wire coming from the firewall area.

I had some sort of arrangement on there and there was a click and then the ac fan came on... so Ive stopped before I start welding stuff.

Ive had a search but cannot come up with something conclusive.

Both red wires go on the long stud terminal on the starter. The blue ground wire from the battery goes to the engine block, as does the A/C earth wire. I'm not sure what spade terminal the blue/yellow wire goes on as I think the original starter only had one spade terminal...so that's a question still. I'd say it's the one on the RH side in your photos, but that's just a guess based on some other starter pics I saw online and the orientation of the spade terminal and the wire end.

This pic from a 740 confirms my suspicions on the spade terminal. Sorry I'm not near my cars so can't check at the moment.

All good! Wired it up this morning and turned it over to get oil pressure up.
