740 & 760 M47 Transmission. What is this spring

Hi all,

I just opened the top lid on my junkyard M47 to get an idea of its condition.

After opening the transmission lid, i heard something metallic pop out, and to my surprise there was a spring on the floor that looks to have fell out of the transmission.

It looks like this:

Any idea where it could be from?

And if its even from the transmission?

That looks like #73 in the diagram

I think it's location is on the selector yoke but I could be wrong

It pushes down that ball on the selector yoke
