T-5 or CD009 it instead. An XR-6/8 Falcon box is yhe closest IIRC.
There is an M47 conversion kit for sale on Gumtree at the moment

Do you know if that would fit on a B20, or is the bellhousing pattern different on a B30 vs B20? Just curious...
The 164 bell housing is bigger.
Hi Greg,
You need to build something like this below that I made a while back- a few versions have been devised by people to cut and weld b20 and m47 style bell housings. A fiddle, but not rocket science.
Lord Olga - Do you have any of the conversion parts already? They are quite rare now and becoming costly on the international scene, including for your car an 8 bolt flywheel. I can probably put together most of an m400 kit as used parts, but even then not cheap by the time you have overhauled them for use. There are only a handfull of M410 in Australia, very occasionally they are available for a couple of thousand internationally by the time they get landed - then you have to see what condition they are. I am doing the manual conversion myself this year.

I guess the other consideration when converting a 140 or 164 to manual is whether it’s the earlier gooseneck gear lever or the later remote gear lever, as the floorpan requires modification on early cars if you want to use the later gear lever. If you have an early car the only manual option is a M40/41 for the 140 or I guess M400/410 for the 164...my wagon is a 68 so my only real option is to find an M41 I guess...my dad has one in the US - guess I could bring back the minimum amount of bits needed to convert my M40 to an M41?
@carnut222 - What is the length from the front of the gearbox to the gear lever for the earlier type of M40 / M41 without an extension cover? I wonder if it's possible to use a B-W / Tremec T5 with, say, a top cover and rear extension housing from a 1352-000-191 assembly (originally fitted to a Chev S-10) which had a length of 298.3 mm from bellhousing face to gear lever, in an early 140/164.

I’d have to have a look, but the gear lever basically comes straight out the top of the gearbox, so that distance would be quite short (on the order of 100-150 mm I’m guessing?)

I just took a look and the engineering to convert the selector on the m46 would be tough.
The essential components stripped Frome a m41 would not weigh much. Couple of hours to strip and degrease, and I think it would be accepted as luggage. Or just be much cheaper to post.

We’re flying in the front of the bus this time so we have a pretty hefty luggage allowance...hence I’m bringing back an ipd front sway bar for the yellow 245...not sure my partner will want to lug the M41 bits in his luggage though LOL!
Sure he would.
Will consider selling my m410 which was rebuilt approx 10,000 km ago @Lord_Olga
