Hi, Looking for the top cover, (long gear stick model) for an M40 gear box

Cheers Daryl

I have an M40 that has the remote shifter in Melbourne.

Gearbox needs bearings, cover is fine. Came out of a 140.

If I understand correctly, Daryl is after a 66-71 box top.

    Hello

Is the cover complete with the locking plate, its return spring and the reverse position plunger

If so my postal address is 27 Haylock Road, Moonta Bay, South Australia 5558 for freight cost

    Cheers

    Daryl

Can the brass bushings be welded/replaced easily? That bushing looks to be worn on the right.

Nearly all bits for most versions of the M40 are still available, because of the demand for fresh ones from the P1800 brigade.

It's just a lid as requested. I would have to hunt for the other parts. They should swap from your existing lid if you have one. The reverse position plunger assembly is rivited in position, so present. I will get a picture.

There does appear to be some metal loss where the pins interact with the bush, I am not sure if this has a meaningful impact on function as the other three I have now looked at are the same. The alloy is cast around the bush, not easily replaced.

You just get more acquainted with your passenger's thigh when engaging reverse.
