The S60 Owners Manual has this gem on interior lighting:
Adjusting ambient decor illumination
1. Press Settings in the top view in the centre display.
2. Press My Car => Lights and Lighting => Interior Lighting.
3. Choose between the following settings:
• Under Ambient Light Intensity, select from Off, Low and High.
• Under Ambient Light Level, select from Reduced and Full.
This seems fine except what is the difference between "intensity" and "level" ? The manual doesn't explain. To see what they do, I've changed those settings but, nothing seems to change. The interior lights turn on an off as described in the manual and their brightness is controlled by the thumbwheel. We leads me to wonder what's the different between "brightness", "intensity" and "level" ?
I asked the dealer what the "ambient" lights were and was told it's the interior lights which turn on when a door is opened.
These are distinct from the "mood" or "Ambience" lighting. That works and all the options work too (ie. changing colour and brightness).
So, I can't figure out what the two settings are for. Can someone help me ? Do other Volvos have similar lighting ?
Thanks.
