I took my car to local mechanic in Bacchus Marsh after seeing Anti-Skid, Engine System & Park Assist Service required and was quoted:

$950 to replace and program Rear Electronic Module (REM) Part # 31314469 using used module for Park Assist and Anti-Skid problems

I found a used REM with same PN 31314469 from EBay America selling at US$98, mechanic will charge $405 for fitting and programming? Is $405 fair price? can USA REM be used on Australian REM ?

Up to $5000 (worst case) by transmission specialist to have transmission check with may be solenoid valve (s) replaced etc. He already flushed the tranny 3 times but Engine System Service Required and Transmission Service required still came up, has anyone had similar problem?

You should take car to a independent Volvo shop that has the Volvo specific scan tool and computer program.

Yes the transmission may need solenoids but best to go to a shop that knows the cars backwards.

You would need new computer module to have it programmed at a dealer and pay dealer cost so going to our indieshops gets you a cheaper software update as they know the dealers.

I suggest Berry Motor Group, talk to Mark Iceton.

Changeover transmission is an option,Mark will have one.

"Transmission Service required" comes on couple times for couple seconds only, there is no clunky noise except I do feel a bit of torque steer when I turn at high speed, how do I check if transmission works OK?

BTW "Engine System Service required" message is gone, only Park Assist and Anti-Skid Service Required messages left :(

Engine system service required usually means someone has overfilled the car with oil. Im guessing its a diesel model?

No one can program modules except for the dealer anyone who promises you otherwise is going to waste your money.

Sounds like you need to take it to a volvo specialist workshop as they're probably on the wrong track with replacing the REM

Yes it is a Diesel.

Last Friday 30/8 my mechanic said they managed to clear the Park Assist and Anti-Skid Service Required messages, test drove the car without problem but when I picked the car up these messages came on, I left it there till today when they advised REM was the fault, I will ask Volvo Port Melbourne (40 min drive) and Berry Motor (1hr 30min drive) for a quote to scan and clear these messages.

Antiskid could just be the clock spring with the steering wheel

Berrys won't charge you. Talk to Mark @iceton1975 , very helpful people.

And if it's clockspring they can help you for sure.

Transmission sounds good.

Maybe it needs some front suspension bushes or engine mount for the torque steer you feel.
