OdinsRedblock Hi there, Long time lurker making a first post here to attempt a never before performed activity.. the sale of a Volvo. I've amassed too many, and with the purchase of my latest, I need to clear some space. The wrath awaiting in the bedroom in the evenings is too much. Car is an 89 240GL sedan in the light metallic blue with automatic trans and desirable LH2.4. It has done approximately 280,000ish kms from memory. Although Odo was broken for a bit so it's indicating less. Car has been parked up since mid 2015 when the trans stopped shifting into second. Was started regularly til about a year ago. I've not tried to start it recently but I've no doubt it would start up with a battery and some fresh fuel. I bought the car in 2007. It was my first road registered car and I ferried many a carload of pretty ladies and stinky boys in it. The car made a trip to Sydney and a trip to Townsville (2014) whilst under my ownership. Performed wonderfully. I love the car and it's the love for it which has prevented me from selling it, but it's time to say goodbye. When I bought the car I replaced all belts, cam seals, water pump, accessory bushings(Poly IPD items), radiator hoses, OD relay, reconditioned the alternator, probably a bunch of other stuff too. Pretty sure the brake pads and fluid were done when I last re-registered it in 2014. Oh and maybe wheel bearings too. Pretty sure I've got receipts in the glovebox for parts. The paint on the top surfaces of this car is shot. Although, the body itself is very straight. The tail lights have oxidized, but could be sanded and saved maybe. It is missing the front bumper trim. And as mentioned earlier, the trans wasn't shifting in to second. Interior is actually quite good blue cloth. Front seats have always had sheepskins. Pretty sure even door pockets and center console (behind belts) are intact, complete with the little piece of sponge carpet. Glovebox door is broken around latch and won't close. Has a kenwood head unit with CD. Door trims haven't been messed with. Has an oem volt meter installed. Manual windows. Central locking. Heater functioned great. Ac didn't work. Was told it needed regassing but never bothered. This car wouldn't require much work at all to get back on the road. I was always going to manual swap it. Then I was going to pull the LH2.4 stuff and convert my 242GT project. The main issue is the paint on roof, bonnet and bootlid. If you don't care about cosmetics, this is an ideal cheap late model 240 to become a daily driver. Or, a great start for an engine transplant project. If you could find a replacement blue bonnet and bootlid, she would look 10x better straight up. Of course, she could also make a good parts car. No photos right now. If anyone is interested, I'll get the car cover off and get a few snaps. Car located in Brisbane. Currently sitting on Virgos which wouldn't come with the car so you'd need to bring your own wheels. Welcome to call or text me on 0434397607 Cheers, Adam Fark.. I've been meaning to do this for a while. How cathartic.
OdinsRedblock Just thought I should add, as I didn't actually specifically say in the previous post, that the motor was a beauty. No smoke, no piston slap, great economy, plenty of go. I had her up to ~170km/h once. Phew! Also, there is a chance the auto isn't cactus. I've heard kickdown cable can cause issues with changing gear. Maybe even band adjustment? Would be fun to diagnose. :p
ramrod There are no bands in an AW70. There are clutch packs. Have you tried driving the car with the kickdown cable disconnected?
OdinsRedblock ANDYPALM;c-158235 wrotewell done Cheers Andy. Sad to see her go but good feeling to actually move a car on.
