OK brains trust. On this yellow 79 245 I’m resto-modding, the two crossmembers under the front seats are caved in (looks like some dimwit put a bottle jack or jack stands under them or something?) RH side is much worse than LH side. Anyway, I’m looking for advice on best way to repair them. I don’t think the function is really affected but aesthetically they aren’t nice. I thought about several options:
1) cut hole in floorpan inside car and bang the dents out from inside, then put a plug or patch on floorpan and cover with Dyna-mat stuff
2) use a dent puller from underneath (requires drilling holes in crossmember for dent puller as I don’t have one of those nifty spot welder things that welds little nibs on to pull dents)
3) cut the bad section out and replace with a good one from my donor car - guess just mig it along the edge where the two parts overlap (old and new) then spray with underbody deadener)
4) drill out all the spot welds and replace with good complete part from donor car or buy a new part (I think some places still have them available
5) crush the biatch and start over ;)
Thoughts?
