Well, I can't believe I am here crafting this listing after hunting down this beautiful 142 5 years ago. I worked very hard at locating this old girl and it has not disappointed. However, due to a pending job shift and the need for another larger family car I need to move it onto another caretaker. I immediately writing this... :anguished:
As its getting way late, so I'll try and give a quick detailed overview to start and circle back around with any questions tomorrow. I am either the 3rd or 4th owner with the first (1 or 2?) owner being in Adelaide. I have all the early original receipts and it shows that it was a well maintained and loved car. I purchased it from an outstanding well known Vic Volvo club member who purchased for his son a number of years before I came on the scene. This club member is a known Volvo expert who has rebuilt a number of B20's for his numerous 120's. Before I took her on, Snowball received a rather generous upgrade of one of his fully rebuilt B20 taken out of one of his Amazons. It has a lovely warmed up cam (specs unknown) along with all the right upgrades to make it a reliable daily driver. It isn't lighting fast, but it has a spirited up and go for sure.
Since I purchased it I have have been worked on a good number of interior and cosmetic upgrades and serviced all the mechanical through Voldat here in Melbourne. It has been garaged every night since I purchase it. Its been on club plates since I bought it but I've currently let that lapse. Although open to acquiring a RWC, I am currently offering it as is. The only issue is a couple areas of rust on the rear sill that need attention. I considered getting it taken care of before listing it for sale, but I am time poor these days. Current features and more recent work completed:
- Gorgeous authentic vintage Recaro bucket seats refinished finished in B&W herringbone and black sueded fabric. These are very comfortable and look amazing. The back seat has a matching covers but these are over original Volvo seat.
- All new black carpets throughout including thick underlay.
- Painted door cards black.
- Integrated centre console- a newer plastic console with wool felt lining on top that actually looks like it could have been period correct (which it isn't)
- Replica BBS whees 15" - with plenty of rubber. These are tough suckers that definitely look the part. Will include original 15" steel rims.
- Hotdog style (straight) exhaust with extractors installed... sounds a little throaty and may turn heads.
- Nardi wood steering wheel - turning out this drop style wheel is quite rare. Special thanks to Rob and Scott for helping to get this to me all the way from Sydney. Steering is tight and true.
- Rally GT dash - this was thankfully sourced before I purchased the car however the odometer isn't currently ticking over.
- Original dash top is very good condition with only one stable crack on the RHS
- Twin SU Carburettors - these are in balance but currently running on the rich side.
- Recently refurbished radiator, front timing belt seal, rear main seal, head gasket and all over tuneups all through Voldat
- Currently running bumper-less, but have the straight and true bumper on hand.
- The body is very straight with the usual few bumps and blemishes... the original paint is in Arctic White.
I will will be selling a few choice bits (spare parts) separately, but will also include a box of spare hoses, rubber items, bolts fixings, clutch cable, and a number of bits and pieces with the sale of this car.
I am only putting this listing up here at this stage but will need to post it up on the usual sites in the near future. I am asking $5500 Again this is a regrettable sale and were it not for the need to free up cash and some space, It would most definitely staying with me. She turns heads and gets thumbs up all over town :) A few photos below and please ask any questions
