Looking for a diff center and or total rear end. Will be a Dana 1030.
Need ratio taller than 3.54 and would prefer LSD. Anything between 2.7 & 3.54

IIRC the 1030 had available 3.31 to 4.88 and 1031 went down to 2.72. Memory is a little hazy though...

It would be helpful to know your location and whether you are after a 200 or 700 series diff.

Hi Angus, You are right of course, my apologies - I am after a 200 series.
I am located in Brisbane but happy to freight if I find what I am looking for.

I think your main options will be a 3.54 1031 which is found in auto 260's (V6) and possibly in some auto 240's, or a 3.31 1031 which is normally found in some manual 240's from '86 and later if I'm not mistaken.
LSD is going to be very hard to find, Volvo normally only optioned it in countries that get lots of snow.
I have a 3.54 1031 760 rear end that could possibly be dismantled for the ring and pinion if that's helpful, I'm in Vic but could post.

I think if it came from a 240 with a 3-speed auto it's likely to be a 3.54 diff
Hillreach
Hi James,
That is exactly what I already have so there is no gain.
Thanks anyway

I don't think a Volvo 1030 exists with a ratio taller than 3.54.
The tallest ratio Volvo used was 3.31, and that was only in the 1031 diffs, so you may have a hard time finding what you want, if you can't switch to a 1031 axle.

I agree with Angus. Might be some value in researching early 264s, but I would not hold my breath.
Aftermarket ratios are available quite cheaply, but won't fit the Volvo hemisphere. You will need a non-Volvo hemi, and I have no idea about what is required to make them fit.

I'm not 100% sure but I think the 260's had 1031 rear ends going right back to the start in 1975, and in any case, the tallest ratio you will find in a 260 is 3.54, so even if some did have a 3.54 1030, it's of no advantage to you.
