goodenough I should note that one of my twilights is removed. I can get my arm in there. Tried playing with the mechanism but no luck. Maybe a small metal prongs in under the latch?
carnut222 OK, I think there are 2 M10 bolts that hold the striker onto the rear end panel. You might be able to access them with a very long set of extensions through the ski hatch (fold-down arm-rest in back seat). I vaguely recall having to do this once but can’t recall if it was a 240 or a 740.
goodenough Ok thanks so my taillight luckily is removed I can get my arm in there. I’ll have a look at my other one for the bolts and go from there!!
carnut222 You’ve got 2 of these cars don’t you? You should be able to have a look in the one you can get access to and suss it out. The bolts are the same ones you’d use to adjust the striker up/down and side-to-side if the boot lid isn’t adjusted correctly...
carnut222 That’s a break-away bolt head just like what they use in steering column locks. You can either try to get vice grips on it to unscrew it, or I often use a Dremel tool to cut a slit in it and use a large flat blade screwdriver to get it out, or just Dremel the whole head off. A bit of a pain but I guess it was an anti-theft feature!
