Hello all,
Another member gave me the heads up about this forum, so I thought to get on board and check it out. I currently own a '85 240 auto, bright red, bought her for $500. She was in great condition, came with service books etc. She was owned by a queensland doctor for most of her life, and he had her serviced every ten thousand KMs. Great stuff.
Cheers, Gareth

Hello and Welcome.Gareth!
It sounds like a great car to pick up,any pictures you can share?
Do you still have the old car? It was only just run in by all accounts!!

G'day,
My previous Volvo was another '85 240, she was great....gave up the ghost after around 530 00 kms. The bearing spun. Another great example of how we should use quality filters and regular oil changes.
I wrecked her out for parts, alot of good parts too.
Broke my heart to see her taken away...
I uploaded a video onto youtube as a R.I.P.

Not sure of any good pubs.... but the hotel in Amphitheatre sells the best ice cream I have ever tasted!
And the pies at Izzies cafe in Dunkeld are the best ever!

Welcome to the forum, I'm in Amphitheatre and have lots of 240 parts if you ever need anything and don't want to travel too far to get it.

G'day,
Thats good to know. I am currently working on K-jet issues. When I first got the car Bellinghams in Geelong suggested I would need to re-build the K-jet, but after I fixed all the air leaks she runs much better.
Thanks for the heads up...

G'day,
Finally got around to uploading some pics. I love the fact that she is bright red, stands out like the proverbial!
I am finding it very hard to remove the "orange" oxidisation to reveal the stunning red paint work.

Welcome aboard! It's great to have some more local(ish) folks around.

HEy ! WELCOME !
How about clay bar and good polish/cut media that you use with it? Go to your panel shop and ask nicely what to do , maybe see if they will sell you some product?
Love the RED !!

Hi Gareth, welcome to the forum. I am the owner/operator of Oz Volvo. You should buy a sticker for your car :x
mr_blackstock
G'day,
I have to be careful with the polishing, the previous owner was over enthusiastic and rubbed it back to primer in a few places, so I can guess the paint is getting thin by now.
And I just bought a sticker!
Cheers, Gareth

Aw nice! I should ask people to buy them more often! :P
The good news with those solid-colour acrylic paint Volvos is that it's relatively easy to give them a respray in the same colour. Just rough up the paint, put down a few coats of that shade of red, then cut it back to a shine.
I know the reality is somewhat more time-consuming, but as far as car paint goes it doesn't get much simpler.
