Monthly update time:
- Leads, plugs and dizzy cap changed. Pulls hard and doses like a mad bastard. Issue with having no blow off valve is if you lift off slightly the intake flow will stall and give you a severe case of the kangaroo hops. This is at least what I think is happening. May need to change this as the poor old journal bearing turbo won't like having reversed flow all the time and probably won't last a hell of a long time. On the plus side the look on peoples faces when they work out the volvo with mismatched panels is making the noise is worth it.
- Oil leak found and fixed. As I undid the last bellhousing bolt to drop the box I found a puddle of oil round the base of the dipstick. A bit of rtv and problem solved.
- Gearbox fluid changed, I had the box out so gave it all a once over, shifts much better now.
- Sick custom gearknob installed. Made from some $2 shop shit thing that used to have lights in it and whatever button I could find in the shed. Looks like arse but works (a bit of a metaphor for the car as a whole)
- Turbo oil return contacts the steering column with hard throttle round a right turn or up a steep hill. Will need to make up a flex line, will probably do as everyone does and use the two ends of the stock pipe with braided line in the middle, brazing the pipe into the block would be the neatest solution but getting a torch in there and the fire factor is an area of concern, will have to think on it.
