Stay with 20' as the 40 footers are cumbersome, expensive and costly to transport. A high cube 20' would also allow a high vehicle or racking space for spares, equipment etc.. Tiny
Whatever you do don't use a container without built in ventilation! The Fiat club organise motorkhanas and had a 240 (and other cars) stored in containers. Holy crap, the 240 that was donated to them was a disgrace and full of mould, would've been much better without any cover than that torture.
I struggle to keep 2/3's of my 30 something cars under cover. I have a few tricks I've developed that involve car parks in addition to my own 20 under cover car spaces. Real costs of storage no matter what you do are between 400-2500+ per annum (the low end being building on own land, opportunity loss of funds used for shedding).... There's no rational economics here for all but the most blue Chip appreciating classics, you have to do it ONLY because it's your hobby and you enjoy it.
I've got another venture in mind that involves a large building for medium term storage west of the blue mountains. Hoping this will be up and running by mid next year. I'll likely be offering long term undercover storage for a bit over $20 per week.
