En route to Tas, the missus and I each took a car - her the V8, me the 940T.
The S80 used less fuel.
Seems redblocks just use too much fuel, turbo or not.....
Old design, old engine management, they are up against it, even before you look at things like aerodynamics and gearing.
I know, but I really coont believe how quickly my old 245 emptied its meagre tank....
Renault and Datsun from the day got great economy, I guess the age of the lump and the mass of the car....
One of the best cars for fuel economy I had was a single carby D16 3rd gen civic
All in the weight I guess
Do you have kms per tank to back up how much it used? Or is it like others who don't track that, but notice they only put in $30 a week in and get to and from work?
My wife's current shape Mazda3 sp25 gets 8l/100 with traffic driving. And it's the higher power model. So it's not just in weight. More gears to go up and down to keep the power band, Better engine efficiency etc add up.
That being said. My dad's manual tdi jetta driven on similar roads but by myself did 7l/100.
