They're not cheap. We had ours done on the S80 V8 just after we bought it and before we picked it up. Seems they're a bit of a mongrel to get to, which is a lot of the expense.

I'll explore both options. Better than the only one for sale on ebay at $USD800+ shipping. My Auto electrician says no one he deals with has ever had to supply one. But Google "Volvo V8 Slow Starter Motor problems" and there is many threads pointing to common problem with the starter on the Yamaha V8.

Just baught the Car for the wife with 130k on the clock and it has this issue (which I thought was a dud battery but auto elect says no ... battery fine)

And ohh joy... the 6 stacker CD changer has a "Deck error". So what I said - I never use CD's anymore except the 6 stacker cd unit clunks and buzzes constantly (discovered this after the test drive and deal was done driving the car home = full ICM replacement. Also a common issue for this model if you google it I see people back in the day wanted to take a class action against Volvo for this issue.

Deger - Are you refering to the Starter Motor or CD Deck ? Or Both.. :)

I've seen numerous articles for both failing

I called Berry Motor Group in Melbourne - Ph.(03) 9874 5544. They had a second hand V8 Starter for $250 or new one is $860 + $25 Postage . If anyone is reading this thread for information. These Guys seem to know their Volvo's. Sure it's been mentioned on this forum before
