Where to have AW71L rebuilt Brissie ?

Hi, as per the title, are there any recommendations to having my transmission rebuilt. Ideal situation would be to drive in, have it done and drive out. I have other options such as swapping in manual, or second hand AW70L but ideally I would like a good Original set up. Thanks :)

If you have a turbo, an aw70 will fail. Otherwise cannot recommend anyone, it will set you back over $1000 including a torque converter rebuild though.

I have a pair of parts car 240's with what should be AW70's in New Zealand if you want one - both in ex. USA cars with about ~180k miles on the clock.

Unsure of condition.

Over here its about $2.5-$3.5k for a transmission to be rebuilt.

You can rebuild a box with parts from Australia for $400 in parts max plus a torque converter rebuild with new lock up friction for another $300, that's at retail cost. I've rebuilt enough to know that the 70 has less clutches in them and are not worth it unless you need a case.

Plenty of boxes available in Australia for under $200 at any given time to not need to get boxes imported though.

You can buy four new cars. But that's not the point. Just like parts for these cars. They aren't cheap, but to buy the cars it is.

Have a chat with your friendly local SSVC members. If you don't know any, I'm sure @Rob will know somebody who can help you out. Insofar as shops go, I've heard good things about GLT Car Centre, and Peer seems like a nice guy.

Thanks for the advice , especially re AW70 on a turbo. I will talk to Peer when I see him next month. ( I am getting some parts from him ).

Mate I have 2 740 turbos I’m wrecking I believe both have aw71 transmission but are in unknown condition. If Yu remove it $100

Only for myself, lots of experimenting with valve bodies though which is easy to destroy the box with.
