Those wheels are awesome
jamesinc
@Westy can I borrow one of these photos for Oz Volvo's facebook page?
Westy
You certainly can?
Xs4Eyes
If that's not a compliment, I don't know what is! Nice wheels, and the world's most comfortable looking seats.

@Westy I assume they are Alfa seats? How straightforward (or not) was the install? I assume you just had to bolt the 240 rails onto the bottom of the Alfa seats?
Westy
Thank you, yes 2005 Alfa 156 seats, they are almost direct bolt in, inner rear brackets are all that needs modification, I just used that one bracket off the original volvo rail, just ground of retaining pin, enlarged hole, and bolted it directly to Alfa rails, I will get some close up pic's tomorrow, oh I also did rear, and yes super comfy and plenty of support

Some more photos would be fantastic!
How did you do the rear? I've never seen it done before.
Is that a standard Alfa colour? Most of the ones I've seen are a darker brown than that...
Xs4Eyes
Wow! That is a mod worth sharing, they look fantastic.

Wow nice seats! Might try this myself
How’s the seating position compared to stock?
Westy
Position is spot on, as you may have noticed, Alfa console off drivers seat has mantained perfect gap between the two, and is a welcome addition?

What about the rear? It looks like the back is less upright than a stock 240 seat...
Westy
The rear is another story, commitment is a must, it is still the original Volvo upper and lower seat frames, I removed original Volvo upholstery, cleaned original seat foam, then carefully sliced foam from Alfa seat with reciprocating saw, glued it to the volvo foam to replicate the original Alfa seat shape, then stretched leather over and attached using original metal retaining clips, the centre armrest is the original Alfa one, surprisingly no modification required it literally bolted straight in, using the Alfa brackets, just had to drill 4 new holes into seat frame, as they did not line up, I have matching Alfa headrests to fit also, they are very similar to how the original Volvo ones mounted, except the mounting slides are wider.

Are you planning to get the car painted?
Vee_Que
Looks good, did you lose much headroom with the seats?
Drag way rims look good. As does skinny bumper with round headlights.

I'm doing all the bodywork myself, once complete I will be spraying the entire car, once I have sourced all the bits including earlier chrome trim along edge and around windows, I will be trial fitting everything, getting gaps perfect, then once I'm happy I will prep for paint, the front panels are complete in terms of filler work and holes that I have welded up, they are in a 2pak Hi-fill, and will just need blocking back once the rest of the car is complete.
Vee_Que
I think a Friday night hangs in Melbourne needs to happen soon, but on a Saturday!
Westy
Sounds great, would love to have a Volvo get together and chat, will need to definitely organise something.
jamesinc
Nice, I like that you're doing the bodywork and paint yourself, I did that on my 244 it was pretty time consuming in the end but you sound like you know what you're doing
