I am wanting to buy VGC carpets for a 240 Volvo. Beige or other light colour preferred. The carpets that I have are badly stained and look rather shite :)
EDIT: or black carpets :)
240Joe
I got spare blue & brown?
Angus242164
I've got beige carpets in excellent shape in an '86 sedan, and a beige set in an '83 sedan, would need to check condition of those.
Sedan and wagon are different, and there are also minor differences between pre and post '81 (I think) around the centre console area, so it would be best to know what year and body style your car is.

Mine is an 84 GLE sedan

If beige is your first preference, then one of my parts cars is probably your best bet. If you're keen I can take some pics to show condition.

Just had a look, the carpet in my '83 parts car is stuffed, ripped in a few places. The carpet in the '86 has no tears, stains or anything like that, but the colour has faded a bit, so it's a lighter beige than it would have been when new. $50 for the carpet from the '86.

$50 sounds good mate. Can you get a picture for me please?
Angus242164
Will do as soon as I can, it might be a few days.
A_Volvo_Driver
Cheers. How easy is it to remove the parcel shelf? Mine is faded white (was originally beige.
Angus242164
Pretty straightforward if the seat back is removed first, just remove the speakers if it has them, undo the headrests from inside the boot if it has them, a couple of clips and it's out.
Can probably be done with the seat in, but it'll be easier with it removed.
Finding decent used ones is hard, but it's not too hard to remove the carpet and glue new stuff on.

Agreed. Trim one up yourself. Easy to do and will look much better.

Yep, restoring the parcel shelf myself seems like the smart thing to do. Angus, how did we get on with the pictures, or has it been too wet?
Angus242164
No pics yet sorry, has been wet but the major issue is the fact that it now gets dark less than half an hour after I arrive home from work. I may get them done tomorrow after work, otherwise I'll make sure it happens on the weekend.

Pics are here:

They carry over to the next page.
No tears, burns, etc, just slightly faded from the original colour. No stains apart from a patch next to the brake pedal, which should come off.

Scott @A_Volvo_Driver if you do want the carpet, I'm seeing Joe @240Joe early next week, and could give the carpet to him, that way you could pick it up from his place in Geelong, not too much of a drive from Werribee. This only applies if Joe is happy to do that, of course.
I'm removing some parts from the same car tomorrow, so if you can let me know tomorrow then I can remove the carpet at the same time, and avoid trying to do it in the dark etc.
A_Volvo_Driver
Hi Angus, I'm happy with that if Joe is too.
240Joe
Yep no worries fellas!
Angus242164
No worries sounds good, I'll pull out the carpet tomorrow, hand it over to Joe next week, and we can organise payment next week as well.
