Isolator/Insulator for d jet injectors

I am after a set of these "isolator valves" for my b30 engine as im struggling with hot start issues. I am yet to check fuel pressure however I suspect this is at least a large portion of the problem as I am missing this insulator.

If any one has a set in Aus id rather source them locally than buying from Sweden or if there is a generic alternative

Also if anyone knows how they actually function id be keen to hear. As I understand they go between the block and injector housing and the bolt holding them to the block. If it goes between the block and housing wouldn't it create an air leak?

Yes it goes between the housing and the block where the housing bolt goes thru into the block. The upper and lower rubber seals on the injector presumably account for the position of the housing relative to the block so there should not be any air leakage.

D-Jet so have you checked your thermal time switch functions correctly and also make sure it has a fresh fuel filter. What exactly are the symptoms? Does it just require a lot of cranking when hot to get it started, or is it flooding out or what?

PS somebody should have some used ones sitting around. I don't think they really age from what I can tell. Anyone wrecked a D jet car?

I have put a new filter in however I ran out of fuel twice after this due to a loose Fuel gauge wire so my guess is that some crud on the bottom of the tank may have been sucked into the filter.

Basically it requires throttle to keep the engine going on a hot start for and will occasionally misfire and stall if I engage the power steering without keeping the revs. it will not require throttle to keep the engine from stalling after 30 seconds but idle very low for at least a minute

Could it be related to the idle speed slide mechanism? My 1800ES sometimes idles really low after a heat soak so I have to keep my foot on the accelerator to keep it from stalling. The fix was to bump the idle up, which of course meant it idled a bit to high when cold. Might be worth checking to see whether your base idle speed is set correctly (procedure is in the green books)...and confirm that the idle slide bypass mechanism is functioning correctly.

Yeah my idle is set at about 1k. Pretty sure aav is working as intended. Idle goes up to about 1600 when cold then settles down reasonably quickly

I attempted to install them today and it just caused an enormous air leak. from my limited knowledge on the subject I cant see how it would seal properly with the insulator unless a different seal was used although I believe my seal is the correct sizing.

Hmm, that's strange. The upper seal should hold the injector in place in the bracket to keep it from vibrating, and the lower seal should seal the injector body to the cylinder head. It is the lower seal only that prevents a vacuum leak. Maybe the seals are incorrect size or shape? See pics.

those two are the correct ones that I have however i'm not 100% certain on the one sitting between the housing and bock I will take a photo tomorrow. as you can see in this one there is an air gap between the housing and the block.

Have a look at this pic from Skandix. It looks like there should be a large o-ring between the head and the bottom of the injector housing....so that would seal up what you're seeing as an air gap. Does your car have these o-rings? I may have been incorrect about the lower seal on the injector sealing to the hole in the head. It's been a while since I had the injectors out on my ES so I can't recall how far the injector protrudes into the head.

ill take some better photos tomorrow but it does have an o ring youre talking about. I assumed it was a on OEM one but it may not have the correct width

Maybe if you were previously running without the fibre washers the o-rings got flattened too much and now they don't seal the larger gap with the washers installed?

I believe I have discovered the reason. there are two types of seals one for fibre washers and one without.
