Amen re tuning lengths. There's a kiwi guy with a KP60 and 4age based setup in it that did extensive testing trying to optimise his power with different header diameters and runner lengths etc etc. Really interesting but I couldn't justify the time to get a difference of say 10% that amounts to 1% more fun when you're driving the car :-)
Your Peugeot sounds just like the Mazda engine in my ute. Look up VICS FE-DOHC images and you'll see. I ditched all that when I built the turbo setup opting for short runners with large radius trumpets for max airflow and bottom end wasn't an issue. Maybe not as strong as stock, but if I'm at 2000 RPM I'm not flooring it or in a hurry. If I'm in the 5k to 8k region I want max torque for sure, so less torque down low is just fine for me provided it's well behaved.
Agreed re 230 vs 250 and similarly 200 vs 230 also - reality is that that car would be fine with a 1500 in it, so a poor bottom end response will be okay in a Volvo 360 - we'll see what happens. No particular timeline except it's likely to be the first of my engine builds as the existing engine is damaged (I chewed up the bore by accident when I had the head off, starts on 3, runs on 4 once warm) and not running right, and I have all the parts for the low budget version, so I may throw it together and redo it later with fancy bits when time permits.

No, sorry, I've been dealing with other things in life and other Volvos. Suspension, electrical, and body work stuff on 16v 244,16v 744, 24v 965, 245, 365. The little 360 which is the target of my NA plans has been getting some use though. I gave it the two-tyre-fire mod and got the crap old engine running more or less right for the first time since I bought it, and have been putting some miles on it. Let me find a few photos to go with this largely off topic reply....
