240 flat hood conversion

Hey guys so ever since ive got the 240 ive wanted to swap the front end to run the old round lights im really not a fan of the late model ones .
I have most the parts off the 242gt i was wrecking and thought i would start looking into it more .
i know the cowl wont match but i think i could live with that.

So i already have the bonnet, quarter panels, round lights and blinkers ill need a grill and headlight surrounds as i sold them already :/

Just wondering Is everything just a straight swap over?
is the radiator support , quarter panel bolts holes etc etc all the same ? anything i need to change or problems i may run into i haven't thought about .

Just want to make sure ive got everything sorted and i know what needs to be done before i start looking for the other parts needed and going ahead with stripping and painting the panels i have to match the rest of the car .

There won't be any modification necessary except the earlier guards won't have holes for the bumper to bolt to. You will need to drill them.

You may find the gaps between the panels will be all over the place. And I think the mismatched cowl is hideous, but each to their own you do what you want.

If anything, I would just make the swap now so you are sure yourself of what needs to be done and if you are missing any other parts. Then swap back. It's extra work and a pain, but you will be sure of yourself when you make the real swap

the guards have a hole to bolt the bumper too whether its in the correct position is another thing ..
in all honesty the cowl will probably send me mad but im trying to tell myself ill like it more because of the round lights if not ill get the correct cowl and hassle the father in law to swap them over and paint it all for me cause that's outta my skill set .
i think you're right about just swapping it out and seeing how it goes now then swapping back prob best before i start painting panels and getting right into it , my only concern is my current lights are dodgy as shit cable tied, screwed and all kinds of other dodgy things have been done to keep them in place they will be a massive pain to pull out and put back in

That hole already in the bumper will be for the bracing which goes from inside wheel well (?) and bolts to that hole in the bumper. I am pretty certain it will still need to be drilled.

I am in the same situation regards to the wiring. I just bodgied it with more crimps and will re wire the headlight harness as it suffers from the common crumbling of insulation.

Swapping it all twice over is a real PITA, but it might save some hassle later on. And obviously it will show you what it will look like...

Ahh yeah i think you would be right meh drilling a hole in the guard isn't a big deal .

I didn't even think about wiring lol so they use different connectors obviously ? ill prob just go dodgy and crimp everything up too if it works it works .

Yeah it will be a pain swapping it twice but i think you're right its best to do it now and see for myself how everything lines up and how hideous the mismatched cowl is before i fully commit ...

How much of a pain was it swapping cowls over ?
my father in law could do it just want to get a rough idea whats involved and how many beers ill need to buy the old bastard ... least hes cheap though as long as theres beer he will cut and weld and paint whatever i need
