I've been told the 6 cylinder 164 engine has inherent problems. The gentlemen advised me to stay well clear of the 164 because unlike the 4 cylinder engines the 6 cylinder had flaws and was unreliable?
Can anyone enlight me?

Apart from camshaft wear, I don't know any other issue with the b30 engine.
I think the camshaft wear issue might be from lack of oil change or poor quality oil.
I got 400,000ks out of a b30 on the same cam.
I personally think the b30 in the 164 was a brilliant motor.
