needed - after all, the all-conquering 240 Turbo Group A cars had turbos with K-Jet, and the Volvo Turbo Cup cars had a Stromberg downdraught carb!
But EFI, and LH 2.4 in particular, makes life a lot easier. Having the spark and injection controlled electronically and being tied to knock makes all the difference between a turbo car that goes hard reliably, and a turbo car that goes not quite as hard and is a potential hand grenade.
