I bought a 2002 V70 a couple of weeks ago. Runs fine when cold but the gear shifts get erratic when it warms up.
Initially I thought it would be a gearbox problem but my mechanic (CMN Gladesville) said that the scan showed no transmission problems but heaps of electronics problems. Normally I would have taken the car across the road to Star but he's too busy until late January so I am trying to find alternative options. The problems seem to be less than when I bought the car but still want to have it fixed.
Another odd behaviour is the A/C that randomly changes from cold to warm. I had the compressor tested and the system regassed.
I am beginning to think that the ECU may be overheating, that could explain why it drives smoother in a cold evening compared on a hot day. Tried to have a look at the airflow in the ECU box but not having the proper tool makes it hard to check the inlet. Should there be a fan there, couldn't really see anything like that.
Any suggestions about things I could check myself?
Any recommendations for electricians to take it to?

Classic signs of transmission failure on these models are poor shift quality when hot, banging into gear, flaring between gears. It sure sounds like the gearbox.
It will usually leaves fault codes for s1/s2 shift solenoids in the transmission.
A/c problem sounds like a worn clutch google the breadclip method or use zip ties.
Don't waste your time taking it to anyone to get fault codes scanned unless they have vida/dice or you will end up on a wild goose chase.

The print out from the mechanic shows faults in the CEM, the ECM and CCM but nothing in the TCM.
The CEM were hard faults that couldn't be reset.
His advice was to take it to an auto electrician for further testing. Trying to find a reliable one...

List up the codes you've got and we can go from there
