This car has been much discussed elsewhere. I've never seen the car, but the general feeling is that it's a great example of how not to restore a car, with all sorts of things not done properly. It's been a couple of different colours in the past, so you'd want to be very sure about what's under that thick red paint.

I missed the discussion. But it has falcon steel wheels. Under the bonnet looks alright. The" it must be original" brigade can get annoying.

Copy that! Original isn't always better, especially if you want to drive the car and enjoy it.
If I wanted to own something original just to look at, a Rembrandt or a Picasso make for a better investment. And more garage space. AFAIC, cars are for driving, not for standing around and gawking at.

Before this thread turns into a series of "driven not hidden" rants, my comment above was simply that discussion in other forums suggests that this particular car might have some issues. Some of those comments were made by people claiming first hand knowledge of the car and they weren't all about strict originality.
As for cars in general, I agree they should be driven, but personally I'd rather drive a car that's in good condition. I'd also like to know that any work has been done properly and that it was well cared for by previous owners.
From my point of view a car doesn't need to be totally original - none of my current cars are. Then again, I wouldn't object if someone gave me a totally original '64 P1800 for Christmas.
