Preparing to swap lh2.4 into my currently lh2.2 240. question is, do i need to swap in rear end and later cluster? I will be swapping in a T5 box at the same time, do i use the mech speedo from this?
Cheers, Dave
You need the lh2.4 cluster and rear end if u want the motor to idle properly
Is your car an 86+ model? All 86+ 240s with LH2.2 already have the speed sensor in the diff, and the wiring to the cluster. You just need to fit the later cluster, or there is an output on the earlier cluster for cruise control, the 2.4 ecu can be connected to that as well.

Right, will be going in an 88. And you're right about the speed sensor but is there not different sensor types between 2.2 and 2.4? Or do they all read the same?
There is the fine tooth and coarse tooth diff sensor. You are likely to have a coarse tooth on the diff. A converter doesn't quite work right, so you will need to pull the diff centre out, and swap to the later one, no bearings need to be removed or anything. But you will need to change the speedo head.
Right, I can get the rear end, cluster and harness all from the one car. Probably my best bet I'd say
