Chris Howdy brains trust. As is usually the case with these units (SC815/816), my son's sound system is losing FM reception. I have been able to jiggle/tweak/fart around and get a connection but it is now getting next to impossible. I'm assuming the issue is in the unit rather than the aerial connection. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong and it is definitely an aerial issue but my understanding is it's the unit. Now, they're easy to come by but my question is does the newer unit in the Phase 2 S/V40s share the same connectors etc and will it be a simple swap therefore? Are there any differences that make them better or worse than the 815/16? I don't know the model number of these, sorry. TIA
Vee_Que No. The plug is different. Get a new jvc with Bluetooth and wire it in. All the modern features and better sound.

Chris Thanks @Vee_Que good to know. Yep, I could go new though TBH as my son will be a probationary driver very soon and all mobile use is banned throughout his Ps (4 years) I am leaning away from a system that would allow him to pair his phone even if just for music. By the time he gets to a full licence I expect the V40 to be on death's door, it's pretty geriatric in some respects and the next car will no doubt have all the gear.
Vee_Que It's banned as a full driver too... You control it from the head unit. No different Imo. Because it will happen anyway. Garunteed. Only get a single din unit though, double needs too much work!
Chris I hear you @Philia_Bear and @Vee_Que and you're probably right about him doing it anyway. I just don't want to facilitate it! I will keep an eye on what's out there, and interesting about single DIN, I had assumed double DIN was easier. Shame Imlachs just scrapped a base level S40, it had the single DIN system with the cubby hole to fill the bottom of the double DIN slot. Still, they get them in regularly
Vee_Que They run a spacer to slot the double din in. My old unit works and should be compatible if you want it?
