Is this true?
Im serious
Most of them come with better warranty as well
Sure a warranty sounds good on paper... But I'm not too confident in any warranty if I'm stuck in the middle of a desert thousands of kilometres from home......
They dont ever fail
They just read a little off
As long as the o2 sensor is good it never makes much difference
Ive owned and/or serviced over 1000 lh2.4 cars now
Ive never replaced a single amm except for ones killed by idiot owners
I have cleaned shit tons of them though
Lh2.4 is stupid
999/1000 times when it says the amm is bad... its either the wiring or there is a boost leak
Straight up, I'll put my hand up and admit I have not owned nor worked on 5% of the number of cars that you have, but I have experienced a major AMM failure. Once.
The car belonged to a customer, I was de-greasing the engine bay due to oil leaks everywhere and the fact that it had not been done in god knows how long. To cut a long story short I got it looking like brand new, no dirt/grease anywhere. But when I went to start the engine, it wouldn't rev and the CEL was on. The code pointed to the AMM. The engine would idle, but any movement of the throttle pedal and the engine would hesitate and or stall. It would try to suck in air but since the AMM signals to the ECU to up the injector duration based on the temperature of the AMM hot wire, nothing would work. I swapped the AMM with a known good unit and upon removal I discovered the AMM had been reman'd, and water had leaked inside. The cover must not have been sealed properly. After the replacement AMM was fitted there were no more problems.
Some things are better left alone and undisturbed.
