Actually, just had a look at your idler and it appears to be adjustable. There’s a bolt at the back of it and you can see on the front there’s some features that you could put a spanner on to rotate the whole idler pulley on the bracket, then re-tighten the bolt once the belt tension is correct. But you may not need to adjust it at all if the PS pump or AC compressor are adjustable. It appears to be a generic pulley and mount so possible when AC was fitted they just bolt it into the approx correct position and let the other accessories do the adjusting.

interesting I suspect you're right as the a/c was somewhat of an after thought in production I gather. somehow I've managed to purchase just about the only E models in Australia that didn't come with a/c. not really a problem since I'm using all modern parts after I've determined an original system will struggle to keep up with our scorching summers.
