Hi I'm having a couple of lighting issues/gremlins withmy '79 244 sedan.
1. Instrument cluster/dash lights work when head/tail lights are off but they switch off when I turn on the headlights onto full.
2. All tail/break/indicator/reverse lights work, but the tail lights work (as day time running lights) when the head/tail lights are switched off, but they switch off when I turn the headlights on. The brake/reverse/indicator lights are not effected.
I've checked the globes and connections for the tail lights and there doesn't seem to be anything wrong and all fuses are okay.
Are the problems related to each other? Are the a relay issue?
Thanks
Luke

Time to check earths, make sure they are clean and tight, do that and all should be goodly

@tbro The earth on the passenger side tail light (where it attaches to the light circuit panel thing) did look a bit crusty, but didn't want to go yanking stuff off before I needed to.
Do you know where the earth for the instrument cluster is?
Thanks

The parker/headlight switch controls all lighting. I would start by inspecting the plug. It's very easy to get to, it pops off the rear, you can just reach under the dash and get it. The plug would even just be loose on the terminal.

I had similar issues with a melted headlight switch on my 75 244DL

Looks like a wiggle of the headlight switch plug was all that was needed. Will see how it holds up.
Thanks for your help.
