Gday guys, will be putting a later model squirter block in my car that is a +T on lh2.2
Question is, do I need to track down a 2.4 loom or will it be fine with what I have
Pros, cons, advice?
Cheers guys
Hi Dave. So you're already running fine +T on LH 2.2 and just swapping out the block? If so, then no necessity to change to LH 2.4. However, if you're also wanting to increase performance/boost over stock levels, then I believe LH 2.4 can be more amenable to that. Maybe provide a bit more information about your project and goals and others who have similar projects can chime in.
Yeah running fine +T on lh2.2
Plans are to make a safe 250hp (or thereabouts) I guess cam, head work, 90+ mani etc... (looking at motor for sale from the 940 wagon that's wrecking in for sale)
will be swapping in a t5 gearbox also. Just want everything legal and above board for rego and insurance
LH2.2 will make 250hp if you give it enough fuel. It might become a little pretentious around idle and low speeds because it will probably be overfuelling just slightly. I had a +T on LH2.2 with a 3 inch exhaust, KG2T cam and running 12psi. IDK how much power it made but I was quicker than an E46 M3 at a stoplight drag and dead even with a Hawkeye STI on another stoplight drag. It was fast enough and was plenty fun. Always seemed to be a little doughy and rich on idle but when it came onto song it was fine.

I now have an LH2.4 controlled B23ET and it most definitely sorts out the issues I had with LH2.2 and the few drivability issues that came with it. If your LH2.2 is working then leave it. If its broken or its a new build then consider LH2.4 but its not a make or break situation.
You can get chips for lh 2.4 which means a higher rev limiter then 6000rpm, where a kg2t or ipd turbo cam needs to be for good power. No need for head work for that power level strictly speaking.

I wouldn't use a 940 lh2.4 harness however, you want a 240 loom, the other thing is, with lh2.4, you need a drilled flywheel for the sensors. It can still be worth the effort though!
So the lh2.4 doesn't have to be from a turbo car? My loom is a bit of a mess but for the most part functions. I do plan on doing a bit of a build though.
