Clear Lenses for 77 264?

This morning I posted a You Tube clip of a Volvo 265 in the states for sale. Very nice unit (according to the footage) however I noted it had what looked like clear lenses on the front, just wondering if we're allowed to have them here in Oz and if so where would I get a set? I assume that with clear lenses the bulbs have to be coloured (ie: amber).

Someone here was advertising a set a month or so ago. IPD stock them and my understanding is that if an amber indicator light is used then they are GTG... Best to check with your relevant RTA

@Tiga that was me , just about to post them off today! You see them on eBay as you say , I got mine from other volvo owner years ago for the 240 I had when my 850r got squashed. Orange bulb needed , but check as Tiga mentioned.

I have some used clear early 240 lenses in OK condition seen at the link below. I got these sent from the US.
$40 a pair (ono) and I'll throw in some new orange bulbs.

I also have some new (in box) later 240 lenses. These are also from the US so the middle screw hole doesn't quite line up, other people have made a simple bracket to use a third screw.

I'm not sure if those rear lamps are the same as mine. I don't have the car yet. I'm told the rear lamps on mine are the same as the last of the 164's. Why are you selling the clears, are you going back to the originals?

I suppose when I get the car I'll understand the difference. We're the rear lamps on my model unique to 77? I took another look at the pix & I understand mine are narrower & rounder. Since they're so faded I wonder if I put coloured bulbs in it would help the car to pass rego, when it's time for that to happen.

I haven't ended up using the clear indicator lenses. I intended on using them on my old project orange 244 but now have a beige 242 and they aren't the look I'm after on this one. I have some new originals and orange lenses I'll try on the 242.

Weird but I punched in 1977 Volvo 264 into the Skandix website & got this;

I'm assuming the photo is incorrect, however when I punched 75 Volvo 164 I got the same result?

Do we a part number for the 1977 model lights? As displayed in photo 3?

BTW I'd reckon the lights on your car are probably still good enough to pass a rw.

You can just use American dot lenses with amber gloves on the front indicators.

It will only be historic rego but I assume it's the same check?

Not sure if this hasn't already been done as I'm only new to this forum but tonight I discovered a Swedish website that has good access to the parts manuals and from what I can understand may have replacement lenses for these vehicles. I'll have to wait until I get the car so I can establish whether they are Cibie or Hella though. The listing looks like I may be able to order just the lens? Anyway here is the link;

To me it looks as though brand doesn't come into it. I am fairly certain that the hella/cibie issue only applies to the 2nd style of tail lamp.

There was a note contained in the parts list regarding cibie or hella, I'm assuming the difference is the wiring and bulb sockets not the look? The metal body panel they are mounted to would be be the same press hopefully.

Yes, I got to the same conclusion with part numbers. Only need a Swedish translator & few hundred krona. Will explore this issue some & report back.

I've got onto one rear lamp assembly in the US, looks in very good condition according to photo's. Volvo enthusiast will sell it for $135 + $35 shipping. Not sure if this is a good price but appears to be on face value compared to others types of lamps and their availability?
