Gotta hand it to car designers , not the big outside stuff , the little things , thousands of them all coming together to make a (hopefully) whole thing that works.
Been morphing a set of Lexus GS 300 twin ppojector headlights into the V70 spares i have , the plastic of the 1995 Lexus/Toyota headlight is rubbish and fragile , the Volvo (aftermarket ) units are much better plastic.
Its somewhat like splicing some varying diameter stainless pipe/tube that i am used to in my old job , this is a little more challenging and will require plastic welding for some gaps that were unavoidable and some "whoops , i should not have gone Rambo with the jigsaw on that section"!
This is where i had my epiphany about car parts designers , how the hell do they make this stuff??
Have taken some pics and so far its been about four hours on the one and its close.
I will do a project thread of this for the interest.
NOW , who knows much about plastic welding , its probably ABS , i want to do it cheap of course!
AND , the Lexus units run HB3 globes which i will stick with till i do the HID install , probably only on low beam , but are there more powerfull HB3 globes?

There are few good youtube clips seems about getting the heat right. I am trying to find the right filler rods. That and you can melt Stainless mesh in to strengthen.

Cheers Nick , I must look up some trade supply for gear , and the staino mesh is a good idea!
I have some nice perforated 2.00mm thick but that may be overkill , too heavy. I was surprised to see a strip of staino in the chrome plastic where condensate may sit , they do make a car with good finishing touches (Lexus) like that.
Can the mods move to a new thread about my headlight conversion project please?
A couple of posts above this .
" Les has a bright idea =; melding Lexus projector headlights into P1 x70 headlight unit with clear glass lense" ??
Nick!! Plastic welding rods.
