  • XC70 P2 chassis Bash plate/Sump guard/Splash guard.

Hi everyone!

I've recently become the proud new owner of a '04 XC70 and I've so far found it to be very capable off road, and as the standard plastic sump/gearbox guard is really nothing more than an aerodynamic splash guard, and I will be doing more off road track driving and don't wish to be as worried about the risk of a hole in the sump pan next time!

So, I have seen on another P2 XC70 '06 (the holy grail manual version) what looked like an original factory (with air intake duct welded in) thick 2-3ml thick steel guard!

So would anyone be able point me to one?!

Cheers

You doing anything in this space?
Hey! Not at the moment.
I dont see enough demand for them to work something oem.

The optional factory ones I've seen are quite good though.

My list of potential projects is pretty long and braking my hand back in May meant that I couldnt progress through any of it for quite a while. I hope to be back to cutting, folding and welding in the next 2-3 weeks.
Based on the XC90 version I'd recommend the OE plate if you can find one.
I lucked a NOS on ebay - some were fitted - not sure if they appear in the wrecking yards.
The stock volvo ones are really really good just frequently pricy

Im still hesitating to plunk down the 600ish for the stock volvo unit for my s40

I reckon I could do one for around $180 - $250, depending on a couple of little factors (mostly based around wastage from standard sized sheets of material)
That's a lot for a bent piece of metal and a few bolts and spacers! 250- 300 sounds fair for those not able to fab one.

The factory one actually has some pretty serious thought around airflow with pressed in naca style ducting in the centre and toward the back, under the turbo.
When you add the 'because genuine' factor, the pricing makes some sense.
The genuine one is awesome! I have one and can't break it. I found mine second hand for slab of beer money!
