I'm chasing the location of a set of tail light lenses to suit above model. I bought a car but the rear lamps are faded. Can they be re-coloured or repaired. Same as front headlights, the reflectors have dulled and gone brown, any repair solution? Thanks in advance.

What brand tail lamps are you after? There are 2 very similar but different lenses.
Rob
@beema41 You are chasing 264 tail lamps.. they are unique to the 264 and very late 164(if they even came to Australia, I haven't seen a '75 164 with those lights in Australia yet)
I have been chasing a set of these for a while, even @Angus242164 can't supply them. I think internationally may be your only chance.
@240Joe you would be referring to late 140 early 240 tail lights, they come in cibie and hella brands...

Yep they're the ones. Are you still looking for some
@Rob?

I'm not sure which ones, I don't have possession of the car yet. It is a 1977 model 264 though. The fun of chasing parts has already started!
Rob
It has these ones.
The ones on it are ok, but are a let down compared to the rest of the car.
I am actively looking for some also, I will let you know If I come across any....

Thanks Rob. There's a 1977 264 in Wellington NSW, it's been out in the sun and is on Gumtree. I will post it. I called the owner it's not in good shape but I'm thinking of taking a run up for a bike ride overnighter (I'm closer than you) to have a look.

I do have a small stock of these tail light lenses, I used to buy good ones whenever I saw them, knowing they'd be harder to get as time went by. I own two cars with them fitted so I want to keep enough spares for those cars in case I ever get run into, but when I get a chance I'll check exactly what I've got, and let you guys know if I have enough to help you.
I've got a lot going on at the moment so it could be a while before I can have a look.

Sorry it's Ebay
Rob
Cheers Angus. If you only have lenses they would be best for @Beema41.
I need complete lights.

Apologies Rob re: putting that 264 up again. I lost track of it for some reason.
Rob
oh.. BTW @Beema41, you may want to keep a look out for a really good grille, there is some slight flaking of the chrome on your grille.

Ok, I will look out but if the grill needs re-chroming I might get a quote unless it's off the planet expensive.

Quite a few years ago I used to do Lead Light Windows (self taught) and I came across a product that was a coloured resin, I would lay the glass flat and using a dropper, drip in the colour to fill up the patterns on the glass. I'm thinking that I could possibly do this to restore the colour into the tail light lenses. I couldn't be sure until I tried so I might get an old faded lens from anything (Commodore) and give it a try. Maybe a solution?

Rob I do have one set of complete lights among my spares, I'm reluctant to sell them for the reasons I mentioned above, but I might consider it, it sounds like you're having a hard time finding some.
Beema41 I have early 264 grilles in excellent condition, send me a PM if you're interested.
I also have an excellent pair of early 264 headlights, but Tiga is first in line for those.
Rob
I have seen successful recolouring in the past, but have never been able to do it myself.
there has to be a way..
