Oh, yeah, I think maybe that's the wrong link...I had looked up a lot of them - maybe it was on Alibaba that they had them for about the price you quoted. Yeah, this is the one:

If you stayed with that configuration with these bigger cells you would be up to 57.6KWH

You could draw 57.6KW continuously for an hour until the pack is depleted and draw up to ~120KW for 10 seconds while staying within the ratings

The charger limitation is max of 28KW (.5c) with a preference of 12KW (.2C) k

That is a good deal. For that price we ought to go off grid LOL!

We're currently running 45 x 3.2V 130 amp cells in series...for 144V nominal. We have 18.72 kWh. At the time we bought ours, they were quoted as up to 5C continuous, and up to 10C for up to ~10 seconds. Now I think the new CALB brand ones are de-rated significantly (2C max for 3 minutes and 1C continuous)...so maybe they found the batteries degraded too fast at high current draws.

Imo the tax is 5-10 years early

Throwing water on the fire of EV popularity that has only just started to smolder.

Also a great reminder to claim back all fuel excise for fuel purchased and used for domestic electricity generation.

Fossil fuel excises (yeah, they call it a levy, or an excise, not a tax) are a major source of revenue for governments. For 20,000 kays a year, it works out at $500.

In perspective, that's the price of 5 dinners for 2 at the pub.

Or 4.5 full tanks of 98 at current Sydney prices (May 22 2021).

Or $10 a week.

I figure if I tell them I only go into the big smoke of Daylesford once a week to buy toilet paper, that’s 10 km a week, or 520 km a year...at 2.5 cents per KM thats $13 per year. I can live with that! For the rest, they can get stuffed. Time to head out to the garage and make up a special odometer now, one where the trip meter reads correctly so I can track our energy usage per km, but the regular odometer freewheels and I can set it to the required setting once a year for tax purposes LOL!

Per-km road tax is 100% the direction everyone is going in. Existing models are overly-reliant on fuel excises to fund roads infrastructure. I have a friend in infrastructure at the federal level and they've been modelling usage based road taxes for years as the expectation is that it's inevitable.

Yes, true, but most other countries are actively trying to stimulate the EV market with generous subsidies and not slapping on punitive taxes before they even take off...

What they really need to do is comprehend what causes road damage and proportionally charge the vehicles that cause the most and least damage...oh, but the trucking industry will go crook!

Like you said, we are a backwards country, so make sure your speedo is backwards too and minimise their take.

I wonder if the VIC EV road user tax will apply to cars on club plates? Hmm, possible loop-hole. The eVolvo is old enough to go on the club permit scheme...that could work! :)
